First Thoughts On The Task

A2 Media Studies sounds very intriguing and exciting from what has been said so far. The freedom to choose from 14 options is great and we have all been thinking about what we could do for the task. In terms of experience I have very little although I did always enjoy making mini films when I was younger and is a skill I have always wanted to develop and so A2 media studies sounds like a brilliant opportunity. One of my cousins has set up a media production company where he is a camera man filming music videos and trailers so he should be able to give me and the team tips which should be helpful throughout the task. At the moment, it is likely i'll be working with Max and Vince. Vince was a member of the group last year and we worked well together and both agree that creating a film trailer is what we want to do. Max did not work with us last year, but we are friends outside of the classroom and he put in great work last year and so we feel we can work well together, as it is a group activity we feel it is important to all be able to work together efficiently but also to be able to enjoy producing the task. I believe that A2 media studies will develop on the skills taught in AS but pushes them far forward. I suspect that when filming there is far more to consider and remember than there is recording audio for our AS broadcasting task. However the TV drama exam for the AS taught us about suitable camera, sound, editing and mise-en-scene techniques which can be relevant in this years task. To conclude, I am excited to begin the course and am sure it will be hard work for us all but also enjoyable at the same time.

  1. Some excellent first thoughts here, Peter! I like that you have really thought about what skills you will bring to the project from last year, as well as those new skills that you will need to acquire along the way. :)
